TRANSIT

We deserve complete streets and an accessible city.

Minneapolis should be accessible to everyone–not just to those who own their own cars. Whether you walk, ride, or drive, you should be able to safely and reliably travel anywhere in our city. Transit policies are social justice policies: racial justice, economic justice, and climate justice are all tied to transit. Unfortunately, our current mayor does not support the transit policies our communities need to thrive. His administration has ignored city data and refused to allow public input when making transit decisions that impact all of us. He’s prioritized the convenience of drivers from the suburbs over the mobility needs and climate priorities of Minneapolis residents.

We deserve better.

We deserve complete streets in neighborhoods throughout the city. Accessible sidewalks and protected bike lanes belong everywhere, not just in the wealthiest neighborhoods. No matter your age or ability, you should be able to travel throughout our city–whether you walk, ride, or drive. We need a city government that ensures mobility access for everyone, year-round. That means adding sidewalks and bike lanes where they are currently missing. It means protected bike lanes on high traffic streets. It means municipal snow clearing of sidewalks and bike boulevards all winter long.

We deserve a city government that honors our commitments when it comes to transit policy. As Mayor, I will implement transit and climate plans that Minneapolis residents and city staff have given time, expertise and input into, and center the needs of all our residents, not just the wealthiest. We deserve a city government who works closely and collaboratively with the Metropolitan Council, Hennepin County, and the State on transit projects. The quality of our transit system regionally depends upon us following through on our commitments and acting in good faith.

We can build a transit system that helps us meet our climate goals while advancing racial and economic justice. We can ensure our city is accessible to everyone. As mayor, I’ll prioritize transit solutions that allow everyone access to all of our city.
